Éowyn had three babies yesterday! I made a horrible mistake of putting Annie in Éowyn's cage that morning (Annie and Buttercup were not getting along in the cage above, so I separated them). I found the babies in the afternoon. It happened so fast. In the morning there was no nest at all, but that afternoon there was. What made me notice it was that I heard a small squeak. One of the little ones had found its way out of the nest (maybe Annie had something to do with that...), so I put it back in with its siblings. After that I quickly removed Annie from the cage. Poor Éowyn had dogs barking at her and Annie's disturbances right before she gave birth. The babies are doing well despite all the commotion that happened the first day of their lives. Two of them are really small. But they lived overnight, so I think they'll be OK. I'm so glad babies finally arrived!!!
I decided to keep Buttercup for this year. I kept switching back and forth as to if I would get rid of her or not. I just can't part with her quite yet. She was bred yesterday. Hopefully there'll be a litter of babies in a month along with Annie's the week before.
Sad news (for me) is that my sweet cat, Smokey, was killed by a car zooming down our road last night. He was my favorite cat. He was so friendly! He used to jump up on my shoulder and purr as I held him. I'll miss him a lot. I think Milo (another one of my cats) will too.
The goats and bunnies went back home last Saturday. BUT we still have Molly :)! The night before the goats left, it was stormy (lots of thunder, rain and lightning) and Mocha gave birth to two baby girls, Stella and Bella. Just what our friends were hoping for!
