Happy 2013!
First of all I have to say that it has been quite awhile since I last wrote on this blog~ over 3 months!
Svart, my beautiful black bunny, died about 3 weeks ago :-(. Our naughty dog, Liberty discovered how to open his cage... The 2nd time we found him loose, it was too late. Liberty bit a big chunk of fur off of his back. We brought him inside, but unfortunately he died the next morning. I think he died because he couldn't get over the shock of the whole incident.
So, I ended up going to a rabbitry to look at a new male bunny. I came home with two purebred, pedigreed Mini Rexes. A female Blue Otter and a male Black Otter. The lady there so kindly gave them to me for free! It was such a blessing!
The Blue Otter was named Comparts CAA39 on the pedigree, so that's her real name, but I will call her Éowyn. The Black Otter was named LovBunnie's Patrick, but I changed it to Pippin. Both Éowyn and Pippin are names from Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien.
When you have pedigreed rabbit the name of the rabitry always goes before the rabbit's name. For example my rabbitry is named Minnesota Minis and if I named my rabbit George, his name on the pedigree would be: Minnesota Minis' George. That would be his real name, because you can't change a name on a pedigree.
I am getting closer and closer to having new baby bunnies. I can't wait! They were so much fun last year! And now I have pedigreed rabbits to work with~ that will be a new experience for me. I learned a lot last year and I'm sure I'll learn more this year!
Until next time...
